1Xtra announced today a series of changes to the mainstream and specialist schedule, as DJs Trevor Nelson and Tim Westwood joined the digital radio revolution with new shows on the network.
In further news, UK hip hop specialist MistaJam takes over a new five-day slot.
The refreshed schedule reflects an evolution of 1Xtra's music priorities and has been designed to ensure the station continues to champion the most important black music.
The changes kick off on 10 September with the specialist schedule:
MistaJam hosts a new cross genre show featuring the best in underground flavours plus the big hits, mixes, live music and charts.
House DJ Footloose and hip hop specialist Sarah Love will be joining the station for new mix shows.
From 10 each night, 1Xtra will have the big hitters in specialist music – Ronnie Herel, Robbo Ranx, Bailey, Target and Semtex – representing the very best in RnB, Dancehall, Drum & Bass, UKG and hip hop.
