The world’s noisiest boy returns in a new series of
hilarious animated adventures. Six-year-old Gerald
McBoing Boing communicates with sounds
instead of words; crashing, clanging, whistling and
honking his way through the world. Together with
his parents and best friends Jacob and Janine,
Gerald’s universe is a fun-filled blend of gags,
fantasies and sound effects.
Gerald McBoing Boing is based on the character
created by Theodor Geisel – better known as Dr
Seuss, the best-selling children’s author of such
classics as ‘The Cat in the Hat’ and ‘Green Eggs
and Ham’. Gerald originally appeared in a series of
animated shorts, the first of which won an
Academy Award in 1951.
In Saturday’s first episode, Gerald helps a girl
find her lost goose; tries to get an appointment at
the dentist; meets a tap-dancing octopus; and
inadvertently creates a beach party out of a traffic
jam. In the second episode, a dolphin trains its
human trainer; Gerald encounters a car full of
clowns being driven by a goose; Sherlock
McBoing Boing solves the mystery of the
dustbunnies; and Gerald puts speedy delivery
service Zippy Skippy to the test.
Sunday’s first instalment features a gorilla that
chirps like a bird. Elsewhere, Mom and Gerald
terrorize the town as they re-enact the best parts
of a dinosaur movie they have just seen; in Gerald’s
fantasy world, Ultra-Gerald battles Hogzilla; and
Janine and Gerald’s game of 20 Questions sends
Dad into a house-keeping tizzy. In the second
episode, a duck moos like a cow; Gerald clears the
view at a baseball game; Space Captain McBoing
Boing meets Chester B Cheesebreath; and Dad
invents a couch that digs up Mom’s garden.
