Benidorm

Friday 28 March 2008 9:00pm – 9:30pm on ITV1.

Once again the Solana, Benidorm’s premier all inclusive resort, plays host to its usual mix of holidaymakers all looking for sun, sea and savings – although not all of our regulars planned on being there.

Kate and Martin have gone to a nearby picturesque village but find more than a chocolate on the pillow in their room.

The Garveys return with several new additions – Telle’s baby Coolio and Madge’s new boyfriend Mel, owner of five sunbed shops and Didsbury’s answer to Julio Iglesias.

The Garveys holiday doesn’t get off to the best of starts when Mel’s diving competition with The Oracle leads to a near fatal accident.

Paul Jackson, ITV’s director of Entertainment and Comedy says: “Derren has once again written a wonderful series of scripts. All the characters we loved in the first series are back with even more outrageous storylines and stunts. The cast really are some of the best comedy talent we have in the UK and I’m thrilled we have some very fantastic new additions.”

Benidorm is written and created by Derren Litten, produced by Geoffrey Perkins (Harry Enfield, Spitting Image, Father Ted, Catherine Tate Show), and directed by BAFTA award-winning Sandy Johnson (Jonathan Creek, Kingdom, Love Soup). Sophie Clarke-Jervoise is executive producer.

Producer Geoffrey Perkins, from Tiger Aspect, adds: “We were all delighted at how well Benidorm performed last year on ITV and that all of our tremendous cast are back with some wonderful new additions. As we discovered filming the new series there seems already big recognition of the characters. Series Two brings a fiesta of bullfighting, arm-wrestling, romance, night-time beach activities and a cucumber”.
