Teenage Kicks

Friday 28 March 2008 9:30pm – 10:00pm on ITV1.

Meet Vernon: a switched on, plugged in, super cool kinda guy; an ex front man of a rock and roll punk band that lived and breathed anarchy at every turn. At least that’s what he’d have you believe. Unfortunately for Vernon, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

After a messy divorce in which his high-flying wife takes everything, Vernon’s left broke and homeless…with nowhere else to go, he moves in with his kids.

It’s only a three bedroom flat, and as none of the kids are prepared to share a bedroom, Vernon has to sleep in the cupboard under the stairs – just big enough for a single mattress.

Naturally, his kids are mortified.

It’s the first episode and Vernon tries everything from speed dating to lonely hearts to move on from his divorce – but he still can’t pull!

After a disastrous blind date he comes home drunk, and resigned to the fact that he just hasn’t got it anymore. But his daughter Milly’s gorgeous tutor has come round for coffee, and she finds him attractive… but will he see it in time? And what will she make of his living space?

Teenage Kicks, written by Adrian Edmondson (The Young Ones, Filthy Rich, Catflap, Bottom, The Comic Strip Presents….) and Nigel Smith (The Bill, Doctors and Nurses and Vent), starring Ed Coleman (Hogfather, Freaks), Laura Aikman (The Bill, Trial and Retribution XI), Jonathan Chan-Pensley (Ultimate Force, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet) and Mark Arden (Saxondale, New Tricks), commissioned by Paul Jackson for ITV, executive produced by Phil McIntyre and Lucy Ansbro at Phil McIntyre Television and directed by Dewi Humphries (The Only Boy for Me, My Family, Nighty Night).
