With a blend of side-splitting, fast-paced physical
humour and verbal wit, the Mr. Men cartoons have
been a favourite among children for a number of
years. Continuing this week on Five’s Milkshake!
strand, The Mr. Men Show brings the colourful
animated sketch show to a new generation of
children aged between four and seven.
Twenty-five Mr Men and Little Miss characters
feature in the new series. To complement the fastpaced
animation style, some of the characters
have been refreshed and some completely
reworked – but all remain true to the essence of
Roger Hargreaves’s original creations. Joining old
favourites like Mr Tickle and Mr Strong in the town
of Dillydale are a range of new characters,
including Little Miss Calamity and Mr Stubborn.
The madcap action is narrated by distinguished
English actor Simon Callow.
This week’s action-packed first show on Monday sees the characters embark on a host of culinary adventures. Mr Bump and Little Miss Whoops develop their own version of meals on wheels; Mr Bounce’s bean burgers have all of Dillydale jumping; and Mr Lazy builds an unlikely reputation as the best worker at Mr Noisy’s Grill.
In Tuesday’s episode, ‘Farm’, udder mayhem ensues when Mr Scatterbrain and Mr Tickle milk a cow; Mr Pernickety gets down and dirty while feeding the pigs; and Mr Nervous scrambles to flee from the chicken coop during an eggcollecting expedition.
In ‘Parade’ on Wednesday, Little Miss Calamity gets carried away at the Dillydale parade; while Mr Stubborn proves a very unhelpful guide.
Thursday’s episode is ‘Games’. Mr Scatterbrain wins a horseshoe game; Mr Nervous loses himself in a maze; and the Dillydale Badminton Championship causes trouble for Mr Bump.
And rounding off the week’s programmes on Friday is ‘The Dark’. Mr Bump lives up to his name in Little Miss Helpful’s unlit basement; Little Miss Scary enjoys some latenight TV; and Mr Stubborn encounters a live swamp creature – though refuses to accept its existence.
