Commencing on Five this week is an informative and entertaining five-part series that explores how to find the perfect place to live in Britain. Each week, the show pinpoints the best locales to start a property hunt using up-to-the-minute industry knowledge. The first episode in the series lists the top-ten coastal locations in the UK. Trends in the last few years show that bouyant property prices and a refreshing lifestyle have made Britain’s coastal towns extremely desirable places to live.

Each instalment of The Property List presents a countdown of the best places to either buy or build a home. A different theme is covered in each programme, from Britain’s sunniest coastal idylls and cosiest village communities to the next big boom towns and cities.

Every location featured in the countdown has been thoroughly researched against certain criteria, including property prices and employment rates, as well as the state of the local economy and the quality of life in the area. Properties in all price brackets and regions will be highlighted in the top ten so there is something for every budget.

As well as presenting all the facts up front, the series attempts to show the human side of these winning neighbourhoods through interviews with estate agents and the people who live there. While property on the continent is perceived to be better value for money, this series encourages buyers to look closer to home and demonstrates that the dream may well be within arm’s reach.

The opening episode lists the ten best places to buy coastal property. In the last 18 months, seaside areas have seen the biggest increase in migration in the country. The coastal market has been buoyed by an influx of city-dwellers desperate to grab a slice of land with a sea breeze, while newspapers gleefully report that house prices are higher in parts of Cornwall than they are in Central London. But where are the best places to be beside the sea, and where can buyers get the best value for their money?
