Summer of Standup on BBC One

Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow

Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow is a new six-part Saturday night entertainment show set for broadcast this summer.

A superb new concept from the team behind BBC One’s Live At The Apollo, this new series featuring the fantastic standup comic Michael McIntyre travels around the UK to six of the country’s most prestigious and iconic venues to give some of the brightest new comic talents their TV break.

Alongside McIntyre, each show will feature a main headline act accompanied by three guest acts, with each show featuring at least one act new to BBC One. The venues and guests are as follows:

Rhod Gilbert headlines the Edinburgh Playhouse with guests Mark Watson, Stewart Francis and Kevin Bridges;
At the Manchester Apollo is Jason Manford with guests John Bishop, Mick Ferry and Sarah Millican;
Gorgeous female Iranian comic Shappi Khorsandi headlines the Birmingham Hippodrome with guests Tom Stade, Steve Hughes and Paul Tonkinson;
Fresh from 8 out of 10 Cats, Sean Lock headlines the Swansea Grand with guests Steve Williams, Ava Vidal and Alun Cochrane;
The Pub Landlord himself Al Murray headlines the Brighton Dome with guests Jon Richardson, Micky Flannigan and Jo Caulfied;
Finally Patrick Kielty headlines the Belfast Waterfront Hall with guests Neil Delamere, Jeff Green and Kerry Godliman.

Michael McIntyre is of course the perfect host for such a show, given his successes at both Prince Charles’ 60th Birthday tribute We Are Not Amused and the Royal Variety Performance not to mention his performance as host during the recent series of Live at the Apollo. Add to that Michael McIntyre’s ease as both a performer and a guest on other shows such as This Morning, The One Show and as a judge on Comic Relief 2009’s Let’s Dance, then this exciting new series Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow should tick all the boxes for everyone and bring some much needed new comedy talent to prime time Saturday night television!
