Torchwood Broadcast Date?

Are you ready for Torchwood: Children of Earth? Well keep waiting, as there are a few more weeks to go before the return of Captain Jack, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones.

However it seems very likely that rather than exploding back onto our screens in just a weeks time Torchwood will be back in July.

Despite a preview screening on Friday 12th June, the official line from the BBC has always been that Torchwood will air in tandem with its broadcast in North America, and this was revealed this week to be taking place in mid-July thanks to BBC America signing up to broadcast not only Torchwood: Children of Earth but the recent Doctor Who specials as well.

They’ve slated the week beginning July 20th as the premier date for  Torchwood: Children of Earth, which means the BBC in the UK must have already arranged for the aliens and political intrigue themed series to air in this week.

So in what is probably a TV first, episodes of a five-part series will be shown on consecutive nights on the same day on both sides of the Atlantic!

A lack of decisive trailers on the TV at present indicates that John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd aren’t set to return following the conclusion of Ashes to Ashes, although they will most likely be inhabiting the same 9pm to10pm timeslot.

With episodes written by Russell T Davies and James Moran and all five parts directed by Euros Lyn, Torchwood: Children of Earth also features Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It, Doctor Who) and Peter Copley (Coronation Street, Life on Mars).
