Farmer Wants a Wife: Episode 4

Wednesday 7th October 9.00pm

Louise Redknapp helps Britain’s most eligible farmers meet the women of their dreams. This week’s participant is 44-year-old David. Kindly David manages a mixed arable and pig farm in North Yorkshire. He is looking for a special someone to share his life on the farm, and soon whittles his list of potential partners down to the youngest and the oldest of all the applicants. But will either of these lovely ladies win his heart?

“There’s something about a life in the romantic British countryside that really appeals to a lot of ladies,” says Louise Redknapp. “So when we advertised six single farmers on the internet, the response was overwhelming.” More than 2,000 women applied for the role of farmer’s wife.

Across this six-part series, the former Eternal singer aims to unite lovelorn farmers with their ideal mates. Potential partners must live on the farms of their suitors for five days and take on the challenges of modern farm life. Can love blossom in the barnyards and pigsties of rural Britain?

This week’s romantic rancher is 44-year-old David. A straight-talking Yorkshireman, David runs a mixed farm in North Yorkshire and lives in the same house in which he grew up. His five-bedroom home is surrounded by glorious countryside.

The cares of farm life may occupy much of David’s time, but he prides himself on a good sense of humour and an ability to enjoy himself. All David would like is a good woman to share his idyllic life. His ideal lass would be someone independent and unafraid of the challenges of life on the farm.

After meeting the top four candidates, David chooses to spend more time with 28-year-old Janet, the youngest of all the applicants, and 48- year-old former horse trainer Jane. The ladies pitch in around the farm with all manner of duties, from assisting in the delivery of piglets to muck spreading and tractor driving. As decision time looms, it is clear that Jane is rather smitten with her farmer, while David seems to prefer posh girl Janet. What will his decision be?
