Lie To Me Season 2 Premieres on Sky1 HD and Sky1

Lightman heads up a private agency contracted by the FBI, local police, law firms, corporations and private individuals when they’ve hit a roadblock on their searches for the truth. Kelli Williams (The Practice) stars as Dr. Gillian Foster, a gifted psychologist and Lightman’s professional partner. Brendan Hines (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and Monica Raymund (Law and Order SVU) also star as Lightman’s lead researcher Eli Loker and the newest recruit Ria Torres respectively. Loker is so uncomfortable with the human tendency to lie that he practices “radical honesty,” meaning he says everything on his mind at all times. Torres, on the other hand, is one of the few “naturals” in the field of deception detection.

Mekhi Phifer (ER, 8 Mile) will become a series regular in the role of FBI Agent Ben Reynolds. His quick thinking and sharp shooting skills make him a valuable addition to the Lightman group. Jennifer Beals (Flashdance) will continue in the recurring role of Assistant US Attorney, and Lightman’s feisty ex-wife, Zoe Landau. The sexual chemistry sizzled and sparks flew between Cal and Zoe last season. Could they be heading towards a reconciliation?

Shawn Ryan, the producer-writer behind critically-acclaimed police drama The Shield and The Unit, takes over the creative reins as showrunner for LIE TO ME’s second year. He has already confirmed that fans can look forward to “a little more adrenaline” this season and he wants to take the show in a more character-driven direction, while retaining the ‘lie-busting’ twists that are the show’s signature.

Shawn commented: “You’ve got a lead who’s one of the premiere actors in the world. You’ve got a great supporting cast. It’s just finding a different way into the stories and a different way out of the stories. That’s an interesting challenge for me…we want to really delve into the emotional lives of these characters.”

The series is inspired by the scientific discoveries of Dr. Paul Ekman – who can read clues embedded in the human face, body and voice to expose both the truth and lies in criminal investigations. Dr Ekman is contracted with the Secret Service, the Department of Homeland Security and several other government agencies to consult in deception-related fields.

Compelling, action packed, honest entertainment: LIE TO ME returns to Sky1 HD and Sky1 on Thursday 8th October at 10pm.
