Family! A Hearty Breakfast

Weekdays at 9.05am

The fascinating documentary series continues, focusing this week on the lives of the Pathaks, a Hindu family from Stockport in Cheshire. The episodes centre on the everyday adventures of four-year-old Aastha and her three-year-old sister Anusha.

In Monday’s show, Aastha and Anusha wake up and brush their teeth with Mum. After a hearty breakfast, the girls head into the garden for a morning of fun and games with their friends.

Tuesday’s instalment begins with a trip to the supermarket with Mum to buy some fruit and vegetables. Back at home, Aastha helps Mum prepare the sauce for the pasta while Anusha reads with Dad. It is then time to test Aastha’s culinary skills as the family sits down for lunch.

On Wednesday, the girls enjoy a bed-bouncing session before Mum takes them to the Indian sweet shop where they learn how to make jalebi, a fried snack made from batter and syrup. Later, Aastha and Anusha play with their building blocks alongside Dad and their friend Scarlet.

Mum takes the girls to the Bhavan Indian Centre on Thursday to take part in a dance class and learn about Indian music. The girls then don their swimming costumes and head into the garden with some buckets of water.

In the last show of the week on Friday, Uncle Rahul comes to visit and reads with the girls. Later, Anusha gets the hiccups so Dad fetches her a glass of water – but Aastha drinks it! Uncle Rahul then joins the girls on the trampoline, before the whole family sits down for dinner.
