Christmas Soaps Betting & News

X Factor runner-up, Olly Murs, has told Metro that he’d “love” to have a role in EastEnders.

He said, “I would love to bowl into the Queen Vic and ask Peggy Mitchell for a pint.

“I’d confront Phil over something in the bar. It would be great fun.”

And if he were to be in the show on Christmas Day, he could expect to be in the soap with the highest viewing figures as EastEnders is bookmakers’ favourite to get the most viewers on the big day.

The Press Association released the following info about the bookies’ odds… “Sky Bet are giving the BBC One soap odds of 4/6 to be the TV show of choice on December 25, with Doctor Who in second place at 7/4 and The Royle Family third, with odds of 11/2.”

The show’s Christmas Day episode will see villainous Archie Mitchell getting murdered in the Vic, and we’ll be kept on tenterhooks about whodunit until February.

Coronation Street apparently has odds of 10/1 and Emmerdale is expected to equal the Queen’s Speech viewing figures at 150/1.

A Sky Bet spokeswoman told the PA, “There have been a few upsets in recent years in the top Christmas Day TV show betting, with 25/1 Wallace And Gromit pulling in most viewers last year and The Vicar Of Dibley coming out on top at 16/1 in 2006.

“EastEnders looks hard to beat this year but perennial favourite Doctor Who could just sneak it.”

For me, EastEnders and The Royle Family will be must-watch shows!
