Ricky Whittle - drink drive charge and Cal's murder

Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle will face a court appearance in January after being “charged with dangerous driving” according to the PA.

It reports that 29-year-old Ricky was arrested in November after he allegedly “struck a photographer with his car.” He was officially charged on Wednesday night by Merseyside Police.

A force spokesperson said that Ricky had voluntarily surrendered himself at his local police station. The incident is said to have occurred as Ricky made his way home after a party in Liverpool.

In the meantime, Ricky’s been telling the PA that he has his own ideas regarding his character’s murder mystery storyline.

He said, “I think it would be quite tragic if no one was found to have killed Calvin on purpose, and if it was someone’s grievance with someone else and Calvin happened to get in the way.

“That would be quite emotional – if he wasn’t supposed to die.”

We saw Calvin shot dead in the show’s recent flashforward episode. The scenes of Cal’s murder will be shown again at the end of May but Ricky added that he has “no idea who the killer will turn out to be.”

He added, “Because there are about 23 suspects there will be lots of red herrings and people who come into the village who could have done it. It could be anyone.

“It could be Malachy (Glen Wallace), who’s annoyed by his affair with Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe). It could be Mercedes because she loves Calvin.

“There are other characters who have their own thing. You’ll see in next six months Calvin winding them up. Lots of people have a motive.

“I think producers are still narrowing it down.”
