Diana Vickers: “I’m glad I didn’t win X Factor”

X Factor singer Diana Vickers has revealed that she’s glad she didn’t win the competition.

She made her comments during an interview with the New of the World in which she revealed that had she won the show, she would most likely have never been offered the work which, since starring on the show, has kept her busy.

She’s not only starred in a West End production of The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice, she’s also co-written 13 songs for her album, Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree.

And Diana’s debut single, Once, has been written by Cathy Dennis, the songwriter who also wrote Kylie Minogue’s hit, Can’t Get You Out of My Head.

Diana told the paper, “I’m so grateful I didn’t win!

“I think the originality is stripped away from those who do make it. Between then and now, I’ve been given time to grow, do Little Voice, which I’d never been able to do had I won.”

And she added that though she was initially upset when she was voted off X Factor, she’s never doubted that her professional dreams would come true.

She said, “I always knew I’d get here…

“At the age of seven, people would ask me what I wanted to do when I was older and I’d say: ‘Be a singer’.

“After X Factor I felt sad because I missed everyone. I’d been in that house for nearly 10 weeks and it was very intense.

“I didn’t feel like anyone outside understood me. My friends had broken up with boyfriends, had arguments and I’d missed out on it. I’d been in a different world.”

Diana’s single, Once, is released tomorrow, and you can buy it here by clicking this button…
