Jack Bauer will not find himself in a happy place at the conclusion of hit TV series 24, says the shows executive producer.
According to Howard Gordon, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) will be left in a position which he says is fitting to the style and mood of the character and show.
“(It) leaves him in a compromised place morally, ethically and emotionally,” Gordon said. “This show is a tragedy, and to give Jack a happy ending didn’t feel authentic.”
Gordon has remained tight-lipped as you would expect as to the details of the conclusion to the show, which has been running for eight seasons since its premiere back in 2001.
He says the writers are “taking him to a place he’s never been before.”
Plans are also underway for a 24 movie, with a first draft of a script written and a second underway.
“We’re honoring the series and the creative integrity of (Bauer) and then possibly bringing in a whole new group (of characters),” Gordon said of the big screen project. “What I do think is important is that we do not retread over old ground.”
