Deadlier Than Male:

A domestic dispute rages out of control and Peggy’s hold over David is threatened by a new arrival exerting her feminine wiles.

PC Joe Mason is called to a domestic between husband and wife, Vic and Eileen Needham. The married couple is renowned for their almighty spats, which they usually thrive on. However, this time Vic has gone too far and smashed Eileen’s precious inherited heir looms. Eileen is furious and wants Vic charged with causing malicious damage to her property.

Eileen decides to file for a divorce and hires a slick, feminist lawyer called Sylvia Swinton. Sylvia arrives in Aidensfield and starts to put a case together against Vic. She asks Joe to prevent Vic from entering his property in case of a potential breach of the peace, and persuades Eileen to call for an injunction against Vic. Her actions appear extreme but Eileen agrees nevertheless. Deep down Eileen knows Vic will cause her no harm but Sylvia’s persistence means Eileen is afraid to argue otherwise. When Vic hears of the injunction he is furious he’s not allowed anywhere near Eileen to sort their marriage out but eventually promises Joe he will stay away.

Meanwhile, Stan Bickle arrives in Aidensfield with his vivacious daughter, Josie and they set up a caravan pitch near David Stockwell and Peggy Armstrong’s house. Josie and David strike up an immediate friendship, much to the disapproval of Peggy who dismisses Josie as nothing but a jezebel who is trying to usurp her place in David’s home. Josie is cunning and enjoys winding Peggy up with her flirtations towards David. It appears Peggy has met her match, and Josie doesn’t plan on leaving without a fight…

The Police continue their frustrations at being dragged into Vic and Eileen’s trivial domestic dispute. They suspect Sylvia is enjoying provoking Vic into violent reactions just to embellish the case against him. And it is more apparent than ever that Sylvia is deliberately railroading Eileen into ending her marriage, regardless of whether she wants to or not.

Joe decides to invite Eileen to his house without telling Sylvia so she can meet Vic in private and resolve their martial problems. As Vic rushes to join Joe and Sylvia he has a serious accident at work on a building site that leaves him with several broken limbs. Meanwhile, Sylvia arrives at Joe’s house and is angry Eileen has agreed to meet Vic behind her back. Joe takes the blame for the meeting and at that moment Carol Cassidy rushes in with news of Vic’s accident. Carol tells Eileen that despite his injuries, Vic insisted on seeing her and is waiting outside in an ambulance with a bunch of flowers. Eileen is overwhelmed and runs to him. As the couple passionately reunite Sylvia watches on red-faced and seething…
