Matthew Fox is certainly a man of his word. The Lost star always said he would quit TV after Lost and after the culmination of the groundbreaking series, he has.
Speaking of his decision, the actor said, “I’ve done almost 300 hours of television now and I’ve done two six-year shows. I’ve had two incredible experiences and I’m very grateful for them, but getting involved in another long-term relationship with a big company that’s telling me when to jump and how high is just not something I’m going to be looking to do again.”
The other long term role Fox held was as Charlie Salinger in Party of Five which ran from 1994 to 2000.
Fox added that, “My decision has nothing to do with any kind of snobbery at all. I think… that some of the very best things are happening on television. For me, it’s… about having more control over when I’m working. I’m at a point in my life where I want to be able to spend time with my family and my kids.”
For all the female fans in the UK, fear not, as Fox has expressed his desire to take to theatre instead,
“I definitely want to get on stage. I’m looking right now at doing a play in London next year.”
Lost fans in the UK also have an exciting opportunity to sit through all 121 episodes of the epic series to celebrate the release of the final season on Blu-ray and DVD.
