Lasse Hallstrom’s charming Oscar-winning romance stars Oscar-nominee Juliette Binoche as Vianne Rocher, who arrives in a small French village and, much to the locals’ shock, opens a chocolate shop – just before Lent. To add to their outrage, she’s a single mother, doesn’t attend church because she opens on Sundays and befriends local gypsy Roux (Johnny Depp), all the more cause for outrage. But her chocolates are to die for and soon the locals (including Judi Dench, Lena Olin and Alfred Molina) are shedding their inhibitions.
