Emmerdale: Father Jack in the Dales! And Danny Miller on train crash

Frank Kelly, who played the swearing, boozing priest Father Jack in Father Ted has landed a role in Emmerdale as Declan Macey’s dad.

Frank’s character, Dermot Macey, is of course nothing like Father Jack, as Frank told The Sun.

He said, “He doesn’t swear. He’s a pretty cool dude with a bit of a twinkle in his eye and he likes pretty ladies.”

We’ll be seeing Frank in upcoming episode of the show.

In other news, Danny Miller – who of course plays Aaron Livesy – has been talking about what it was like to film the dramatic train wreck scenes that are to leave on of the show’s characters dead.

Speaking while at the Inside Soap Awards, Danny said, “It was like a film set, it was really intense.

“Usually it’s jokey and everyone’s having a laugh. But because of the amount of time and money spent we really worked hard and it gave us a kick to make sure we get it right.

“We got it right hopefully. I watched it back and it was amazing.

“I’m sure people will be very impressed. That’s not just from an acting point of view, but from the lighting and editorial and directing point of view.

“It’s just been amazing.”

The scenes will air next week and viewers will see Danny, Jackson, Marlon and Paddy in peril as a train hurtles towards their stalled van.
