Mike Leigh’s film stars David Thewlis as Johnny, a misogynist out-of-work Mancunian who visits ex-girlfriend Lesley Sharp (Louise Clancy) in London. Things get complicated when he sleeps with her flat-mate Sophie (Katrin Cartlidge) and then takes to the streets to discuss his bleak philosophy with anyone he meets.
