The Gadget Show

Monday 22 November, 8:00pm on Five

Jon Bentley, Suzi Perry, Ortis Deley, Jason Bradbury and Pollyanna Woodward investigate the latest technological innovations. In this episode, the presenters use some well-chosen tech to challenge the professionals at their own game, with go-karting, film-making and bowling all receiving the ‘Gadget Show’ treatment. Ortis takes to the great outdoors to take on survival expert and former Special Forces action man Myke Hawke. The challenge is to escape from a remote island. Myke relies on years of training to make his escape, while Ortis puts his faith in his cutting-edge technology. But who will come out the winner? Meanwhile, Jason takes on five-times British karting champ Mark Litchfield in a track race. But while the British champion is racing a 35bhp go-kart that does 0-60 in three seconds, Jason is at the controls of a small remote-control car. Suzi’s challenge pits her against DIY expert Tommy Walsh in a decorating makeover. Suzi brings along some of the latest DIY innovations to ensure a quality finish – but is the new technology enough to beat the expertise of a seasoned pro? Elsewhere, Jon goes up against BAFTA-nominated film maker Will McGregor and his top-of-the-line pro digital camera. Using just a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, Jon must produce a film that matches the quality of Will’s professional piece. How will the two films fare on the big screen in front of a specially invited audience? Finally, Polly hits the bowling lanes to challenge British champ Hayley White. Polly comes armed with a remote-control ball, but is it a match for Hayley’s championship-winning skills?
