In a case of fiction mirroring real life, it’s being reported by the News of the World today that Corrie co-stars Samia Smith and Will Thorp are dating.
Samia and Will play Maria Connor and Chris Gray, who are of course a new couple on the Street. However, sources close to the couple say they are adamant that their relationship isn’t the reason for either Samia or Will’s recent marriage break downs.
Samia and husband Matthew Smith split in October last year, and Will and his wife Samantha separated just before Christmas.
A source told the paper, “They are in love and feel they will be together forever.
“If it lasts, fair play to them. But they have only known each other for a short while.
“Now they are spending all their spare time together.”
When Samia and Matthew separated, a statement issued on their behalf read, “Coronation Street actress Samia Smith and her husband Matthew have today announced that they have decided to separate after five years of marriage.
“This is a mutual decision and there is no one else involved. Samia and Matthew ask that their privacy be respected at this time for the sake of their daughter Freya.”
