Alex Crawford, RTS Journalist of the Year, posted to Sky News’ South Africa Bureau

Sky News today announces that Alex Crawford, Special Correspondent and three time winner of the prestigious RTS Journalist of the Year Award, will take up a new posting in Johannesburg this summer.

Alex, currently based in Dubai, has spent the year covering the tumultuous uprisings in North Africa and the Middle-East. Alex has underlined her world class credentials in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, and most notably, reporting form the stricken Libyan cities of Zawiya and Misratah. Alex’s new role will see her return to the continent where she grew up to cover news across Africa. She will also continue to be deployed on big stories around the world.

In other foreign bureau moves, Chief Correspondent, Stuart Ramsay, will transfer from Delhi to the Dubai bureau, whilst Emma Hurd vacates Johannesburg for Jerusalem as Middle East Correspondent. Both Stuart and Emma will cover the constant breaking news across the region

Sky’s Dominic Waghorn is to leave Jerusalem to take up the role of US Correspondent, replacing Robert Nisbet who will move to Brussels as Europe Correspondent. Alex Rossi, meanwhile, takes up the post of India Correspondent based in Delhi

Sky News has appointed Five News’ Jonathan Samuels to join its foreign team as Australia Correspondent. He replaces Ian Woods who returns to Sky News in the UK after successfully setting up the bureau last year.

Sarah Whitehead, Head of International News for Sky News, commented: “It’s been an incredibly busy start to the year for foreign stories and it doesn’t look like its going to slow down anytime soon. Our re-formed teams will bring the best news stories from every region to viewers at home and around the world, and will, no doubt, continue to generate award-winning foreign news coverage.”

All foreign correspondent bureau moves will take place during the summer.
