Glee: Ryan Murphy reveals plans for “clear-out” of cast

What’s On TV report that Glee creator Ryan Murphy has revealed details of changes he intends to make to the existing cast. Here’s the story in full…

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has hinted it could be all-change to the cast. Some of the characters could be graduating in the next series, leading to speculation that stars like Cory Monteith (Finn), Lea Michele (Rachel) and Chris Colfer (Kurt) could be seeing their final season on the hit E4 TV show.

“The thing that I wanted to do and the cast wanted to do, we didn’t want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years. We really wanted it to be true to that experience. We thought it would be really cool if we were true to the timeline,” he told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show.

“I don’t think of it in terms of eliminating or replacing. Because I think the thing about this cast is people love them and they are incredibly talented. They’ve left sort of an indelible mark.”

Ryan revealed that Matthew Morrison (Glee leader Will Schuester) and Jane Lynch (cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester) will remain.

“We’ve got Matt and Jane who will stay and be the male and female lynchpins of the series,” he continued. Matthew has also said the cast could swap and change in the upcoming series.

“Last season, they introduced some new characters, and I think they’re going to continue to do that. Eventually you’ll probably start seeing some of the older characters go,” he said.

“I think they’re going to kind of keep that flow, but Jane and myself are going to be constants.”
