Acting legend Ewan McGregor has revealed to the Express that he’s been fighting a secret battle with booze addiction for years. Here’s the story…
EWAN McGREGOR yesterday told of his secret battle with alcohol and said he gave up drink because it made his life “unbearable” and “miserably unhappy”.
The actor said he turned to partying with the likes of Jude Law and Noel and Liam Gallagher as he struggled to cope with the pressures of fame after starring in cult drug film Trainspotting.
Yesterday the Scot, who played Obi Wan Kenobi in the new Star Wars series, revealed: “I haven’t had a drink now for more than 10 years. It’s a very self-centred way of being, you’re not able to look out or empathise properly with people.
“I found it just unbearable. I found it was an unbearable way of life and it made me miserably unhappy.”
McGregor, 40, who has starred in almost 50 films, is originally from Perthshire, but currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Eve, and four children.
