The Chase returns tougher than ever to ITV1

BRADLEY WALSH returns for a fourth series of the hit quiz show with a brand new Chaser set to make it the toughest Chase yet.

Stand up comedian and quiz master PAUL ‘The Sinnerman’ SINHA will join the esteemed team of expert Chasers responsible for standing in the way of big money wins.

The Sinnerman joins: The Beast, Mark Labbett; The Governess, Anne Hegerty; and The Barrister, Shaun Wallace. Can the four finest quiz brains in the country succeed in their mission to chase each contestant out of the game?

Produced by ITV Studios, The Chase isn’t just a quiz; it’s a race, where the players must avoid being caught by ‘The Chaser’, a ruthless quiz genius determined to stop them winning at all costs. Stay ahead of ‘The Chaser’ and they share the pot; get caught and they lose the lot!

In The Chase, contestants must answer general knowledge questions and play the tactics right in order to get themselves into the Final Chase, with the opportunity to win a prize fund worth thousands of pounds.

But standing in the way is their common enemy, the Chaser.  An intellectually dominating and supremely self-confident quiz genius, they will chase contestants down the board in a tense and thrilling test of knowledge to try to catch them and throw them out of the game.

Meet The Chasers:

THE SINNER MAN

New for The Chase, Paul Sinha is The Sinner Man.  Not only a very highly ranked quizzer, in the top 25 in the UK, but also a stand up comedian of some repute, having appeared on The News Quiz and boasts his own show at Edinburgh. In his trademark white suit, he is the absolute king of the sarcastic put down and uses his comic wit to good effect to disarm his opponents while

impressing with his wide-ranging knowledge from history and geography to modern pop culture.  He does have his weak spots, which contestants this series will be trying to work out…

THE BEAST

They call this hefty chap “The Beast” – be afraid!

Mark Labbett ‘s name literally translates as ‘The Beast, ‘La Bete’ from the French and at 6’6 tall he is a quiz giant in every way.

Arrogant and intimidating with a menacing laugh when he senses a contestant is on the ropes.  As likely to win the psychological battle as the intellectual one and will use every dirty trick in the book to put his opponents off their guard.  He’s the fastest chaser, but sometimes that leads to silly mistakes that teams can capitalise on. Very strong on sport, science and as a maths teacher, brilliant at mental arithmetic.  Art and culture are a weakness he readily admits to.

THE GOVERNESS

The Governess is sure to teach you a lesson

Anne Hegerty, The Governess, or ‘Frosty Knickers’ as Bradley likes to call her, much to her annoyance!  Stern and intimidating she reminds contestants of their old head mistresses and has a similar fear-inducing effect.  So much so that one contestant, a farmer, exclaimed ‘I’ve a two ton bull on my farm that’s not as scary as you!’.  An absolute authority on history and literature with a few unlikely strong subjects like indie bands and Jack Black films, but with a weakness that modern pop music contestants would do well to exploit.

THE BARRISTER

Legal eagle “The Barrister” is silent but deadly

Shaun Wallace – super swotty barrister.  Bradley teases him constantly for being boring and spending so much time at the library.  But it has paid off.  Not only is he a former Mastermind champion  but he is also master of historical dates and sports facts, especially about his beloved Chelsea.  Silent but deadly is his style he unravels his opponents with a menacing glare down the table.  As a teetotaller, food and drink can catch him out.
