
This year BBC Children in Need will be the biggest ever with not just the famous Annual Appeal night, but also a massive spread of associated programming across BBC television and radio.
The Appeal, which takes place on 18 November, will kick off with a special edition of BBC One’s The One Show to launch one of television’s most watched nights of the year. This year there are also dozens of complementary, Children in Need-inspired programmes being broadcast, including:
Children in Need Rocks Manchester – a host of music stars brought together by Gary Barlow, including Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Snow Patrol and surprise guests will perform from M.E.N. Arena (17 November, BBC One, Radio 1)
Strictly Come Dancing from Wembley Arena – in aid of BBC Children in Need (19 November, BBC One)
DIY SOS: The Big Build – Nick Knowles brings a community together to undertake a massive renovation project in aid of Children in Need (BBC One)
Only Connect – Children in Need special (BBC Four)
QI – Children in Need special on the theme of infancy (BBC One)
CBeebies – Cerrie Burnell encourages CBeebies viewers to “Jump up and Dance” with a special song to raise money for Children in Need
Mastermind – Children in Need special, (BBC Two)
Countryfile – have announced the winners of their annual calendar competition and it’s now on sale in aid of Children in Need (BBC One)
Bargain Hunt – Children in Need special (BBC One)
Blue Peter – have launched their “Bake a Difference” campaign, encouraging children to bake in aid of Children in Need (BBC One)
The Big Performance – Gareth Malone coaches 10 kids to perform live on Children in Need’s Appeal Show with a national link-up to children’s choirs around the nation (BBC Two, BBC One)
Deadly Art – will create a special piece of artwork which will be transformed into a Christmas card in aid of Children in Need. (CBBC)
The Chris Moyles Show – live from the north on November 17 and 18 either side of Children in Need Rocks Manchester (Radio 1)
The Surgery – will be presenting a Children in Need special (Radio 1Xtra)
Radio 2 – as always Radio 2 are rallying round with a huge fundraising campaign for Children in Need
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show – team will trying to top the magnificent million they raised last year
Weekend Wogan – Sir Terry Wogan will be taking his show to the Savoy Theatre for a glitzy Children in Need special on 30 October. He will also host Auction for Things Money Can’t Buy on Weekend Wogan on Sunday 13 November
Children in Need Jukebox – listeners will be able to pledge from 50p upwards for a record/dedication in support of Children in Need, and every show will have a very special guest (Friday 18 November, all day, Radio 2)
Woman’s Hour – will be running a Children in Need-themed play about a children’s hospice (Radio 4)
The Richard Bacon Show – will broadcast live from the M.E.N. for Children in Need Rocks Manchester, and Tony Livesey will also be broadcasting from the event. There will also be news coverage and updates from the event on Radio 5 Live, who will also be broadcasting features about BBC Children in Need Projects, including a documentary about teenage gang culture
Radio 6 Music – will be holding auctions in aid of Children in Need
BBC Local and Nations Radio – will be supporting the appeal with loads of fundraising initiatives including a sing-a-long version of Grease from cinemas across the country
