Downton Abbey producer says show has many seasons left

Downton Abbey’s executive producer Gareth Neame has contradicted series creator Julian Fellowes in saying he believes the series has many more years left in it.

Fellowes had said this week that the show was only likely to last three seasons but Neame says there are no plans to end next year.

“The show’s impact has been greater than anyone could have ever imagined. When Downton was originally conceived, it was mapped out across three series,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

“But with ratings continuing to [increase], our expectations have obviously changed and there is no reason why the show won’t run and run, as long as there is still an audience for it.”
