Proving that Christmas isn’t just about mistletoe and wine, some of our favourite BBC Two cooks and gardening experts take us on a tour across the UK, France and Spain to help create the perfect Christmas for novice cooks and experts alike.
Janice Hadlow, Controller, BBC Two, says: “BBC Two is serving up some fantastic festive culinary inspiration this year, taking an adventurous look at Christmas with our favourite chefs; from how to stage stress free last minute suppers and attention-grabbing party food, to stylish festive dishes with more than a little continental seasonal style.”
Christmas is a time when family and friends gather and Lorraine Pascale helps take the stress out of impromptu suppers with her own special tips and cheats on how to cook up a storm with a moment’s notice in Lorraine’s Last Minute Christmas. For the expert chef with more than a little time on their hands, Raymond Blanc creates a sumptuous menu of starters, main courses and desserts in Raymond Blanc’s Christmas Feast.
The Hairy Bikers are also on hand with their own unique party menu inspiration, as they travel the length and breadth of the UK to find fabulous party food recipes sure to impress in The Hairy Bikers Christmas Party. For a Christmas with a little continental style Rick Stein encapsulates the spirit of the Spanish Fiesta in Rick Stein’s Spanish Christmas, with a culinary tour of the best of Spain’s seasonal celebratory dishes.
From the table to the garden and expert advice is at hand to help make the most of winter gardens with a Gardeners’ World Christmas Special. Monty Don, Carol Klein, Joe Swift and Rachel de Thame celebrate the festive season from a gardeners’ point of view, showing us how to create the perfect Christmas decorations.
Alison Kirkham, Commissioning Editor for Factual Features and Formats, says: “This year BBC Two draws together some of our most exciting cookery and gardening experts to help viewers plan the perfect Christmas.”
Lorraine’s Last Minute Christmas

Raymond Blanc’s Christmas Feast
For the expert cook keen to impress Raymond Blanc serves up his take on dinner with a sumptuous menu of starters, main courses and desserts, all cooked with the best of British ingredients. The Hairy Bikers Christmas Party
The Hairy Bikers (Si King and Dave Myers) throw a Christmas party for some of the people they’ve met on the road, including volunteers from Meals on Wheels, and mothers and daughters from Mums Know Best.
But this is a ‘hairy’ party so it’ll be anything but predictable. There’s no turkey, no roast potatoes and not a Brussels sprout in sight. This year it’s all about party food. Si and Dave travel the length and breadth of the UK to find out who makes the best canapés, mini-desserts and treats taking inspiration from across the globe.
The Hairy Bikers Christmas Party (1×60) was commissioned by Alison Kirkham and will be executive produced by Gill Tierney for BBC Vision Productions.
Rick Stein’s Spanish Christmas
Spain is renowned for its festivals and fiestas: Rick Stein takes inspiration from his recent journey across the country to create a series of dinner table feasts that would befit any Spanish celebration from Christmas Day to New Years Eve.
Rick Stein’s Spanish Christmas (1×60) was commissioned by Alison Kirkham and will be executive produced by Arezoo Farahzad from Denham Productions and Sam Bickley for BBC Vision Productions.
Gardeners’ World Christmas Special
Monty Don, Carol Klein, Joe Swift and Rachel de Thame celebrate the festive season from a gardener’s point of view. It may be frosty outside but there’s still plenty to do in the garden.
At Longmeadow, Monty has a good clear up, cutting back some plants but leaving others for winter structure. Carol Klein discovers some of Britain’s best winter walks; whilst Rachel de Thame gets tips on how anyone can make Christmas decorations from their own garden. Joe Swift visits an urban vineyard, in Hackney, East London to find out which grapes you can grow at home.
