As fans of cult comedy Absolutely Fabulous will doubtless know, the sitcom is returning to our screens this Christmas for a series of three special episodes to commemorate twenty years of the show.
And to celebrate, we have cast interviews, news, pictures, clips and everything Ab Fab to share with you ahead of the debut of the new episodes on Christmas Day at 10pm on BBC1.
Firstly, when we catch up with the Ab Fabbers, we’ll see that not a whole lot has changed really…
Edina (Jennifer Saunders) is still a walking disaster area, her BFF Patsy (Joanna Lumley) still can’t find a bottle of bubbly she doesn’t like the look of, and Saffy (Julia Sawalha) and Gran (June Whitfield) are still long suffering as they take the brunt of Edina’s mood swings and insults.
And yay, Bubble (Jane Horrocks) is back too, and the time away from our screens hasn’t improved her IQ. But she’s still Edi’s assistant, and as such, she’s in charge of Edi’s website and Twitter account. O dear.
she must ensure that everything goes smoothly when her boss meets up with who guest stars as herself in the specials.
Also guest starring are ‘Baby Spice’ Emma Bunton – who plays the role of Saffy’s friend – The Killing star Sophie Grabol, designer Stella McCartney, and former athlete, Dame Kelly Holmes.
Speaking about her role on the show, Emma told the Daily Mail, “It was wonderful to be part of. All my friends are so jealous.”
And of course, Jennifer is working closely with Emma on another project; she’s writing Viva Forever, a musical depicting the rise to fame of The Spice Girls.
And apropos of other projects, Jennifer has hinted that she may well write an Ab Fab movie.
Speaking to The Times, she said, “I want to write Ab Fab: The Movie. We’d have so much fun, and I’ve thought of a really nice idea.”
