Chris O'Dowd to feature in new Sky1 series

Chris O’Dowd will write and feature in a new comedy series for Sky1.

The actor, who featured recently in The Crimson Petal and the White and Bridesmaids, will star in Moone Boy, a semi-autobiographical comedy about his childhood in Ireland.

The series will follow Martin Moone, an 11-year-old child with a vivid imagination, while O’Dowd will play Martin’s imaginary friend Sean Murphy.

Steve Coogan and Johnny Vegas will have guest roles in the series but the role of Martin is yet to be cast.

“It’s a really funny show which has loads of animation and a number of laughs that I hope people will love,” O’Dowd said. “It was essential to film in Ireland and what was great about Sky was they wanted us to film here and they were really supportive. That wouldn’t have happened at any other channel.”
