We’ll start our look at today’s soapy news with Hollyoaks, where it’s been revealed that former Neighbours star Dan O’Connor is about to arrive in Chester.
Dan, who played Ned Parker in Neighbours from 2005 to 2008, will play the role of a former army medic called Ally, who arrives in Chester after leaving active service in Afghanistan.
Sydney’s Daily Telegraph states that the character of Ally, “has a dark past that will be uncovered eventually in true soap style.”
Dan first shot to fame on Australian Idol in 2004, and he later also appeared on short lived show, Celeb Air in 2008.
There’s no news yet on when he’s actually going to be on our screens, but we’ll keep you posted.
Over to Emmerdale now, where Chelsea Halfpenny has been talking to Inside Soap about her character’s sudden introduction to motherhood.
Chelsea of course plays troubled teen Amy Wyatt, who recently gave birth to a baby boy – who’s called Kyle – alone and frightened in the village’s churchyard.
She then left the baby in phone box, fearing he was dead, however, he was found by Hazel Rhodes (Pauline Quirke) and taken to hospital where he’s thriving.
However, Amy’s determined to give baby Kyle up for adoption, but she may change her mind when she spends time with the baby at the B&B later this month.
When asked what advice she would give to Amy, Chelsea said, “I’d tell her to just do what’s best for the child.
“I don’t think the baby’s father, Cain, would ever want to share a youngster with Amy, so she would be a single mum.
“And it will be very interesting to see how he reacts to what she decides.”
Then while discussing the babies who play Kyle, Chelsea said, “They’re so adorable! We’ve got a boy and a girl who take turns playing Kyle.
“They’re just so tiny and cute! I’ve really bonded with them.
“I’m quite good with children – I’ve got two young cousins who are three and four years old.
“I just sit and stare at them while talking in a silly baby voice.”
Bit like me with my husband then…
Moving on, and in Corrie, Brooke Vincent has revealed that she cried real tears while she filmed the final scenes with her pal Sacha Parkinson.
Brooke and Sacha of course play the roles of lesbian couple Sophie Webster and Sian Powers, and over the Christmas period, we’ll see the couple split when Sophie confesses that she’s in love with Amber (Nikki Patel).
Of the final scenes – Sacha announced she was leaving the show earlier this year – Brooke told Inside Soap, “All I could think about was how much I’d miss Sacha.
“She’s like my right arm! Now she’s not on set, I’m like, ‘Where is she? What is she doing?’
“I don’t want us to lose touch – but Sacha’s filled up my schedule till Christmas with a load of things, so there’s not much chance of that!”
Aww I’m sure they’re going to miss each other a lot, and I’ll be sorry to see Sian leaving Weatherfield!
