Corrie: Kym Marsh’s fury at yet more rumours over her relationship with Jamie Lomas

Plus Alison King on how Carla reacts to Frank’s murder, and Stella Price gets revenge on Karl over TV stunt

We’ll begin our look at Weatherfield news today with Kym Marsh – who plays Michelle Connor – and her furious reaction to yet more press speculation that her relationship with fiancé Jamie Lomas is on the rocks.

Kym took to Twitter to post an angry message after a tabloid newspaper photographer snapped a picture of Kym without her engagement ring.

Of the story and the picture, Kym tweeted, “Annoyed now, just to say these latest stories in press are out of nowhere.

“I will be correcting in my column [in new! magazine] but this latest ring story is a joke!

“I was out at Dancing On Ice with Jamie’s sister!!!! I had earlier applied cream to my person and forgot to put it back on!

“Why? Must I ALWAYS make sure my rings are on just in case someone wants to talk crap! For f**k’s sake! #laughable.”

She later added, “In fact, there is a pic of me earlier that same day wearing a white oxo jumper and clearly I have my ring onnnnnn!!!!!!! (sic)”

Kym and Jamie – who formerly starred in Hollyoaks as Warren Fox – have been together since 2008 and have a young daughter Polly.

I have to say, I understand entirely why Kym was so annoyed. It is verging on the pantomime how keen some sectors of the media seem to be in spotting some kind of rift between the couple, but hey, that’s showbiz I guess!

Moving on to other news, Alison King has been telling Soaplife how her character, Carla Connor, reacts when she hears that her arch enemy Frank Foster is dead…

And how she lies to the police to give both herself and her lover Peter Barlow an alibi for the time of the murder.

Alison began by saying, “Carla finds out from Sally that Frank and Jenny conned her out of her business and goes to the factory to confront him…”

However, when she arrives, it’s to see Sally Webster – who has blood on her hands – standing over Frank’s dead body.

As to Carla’s immediate reaction, Alison said, “Her reaction is one of shock and concern as to where Peter is, but she could just be covering her tracks…”

She went on to explain why Carla’s worried about Peter.

She said, “Before he dies, Frank tells Leanne that Peter is drinking again and he’s fearful for Simon’s safety.

“Then Leanne catches Peter and Carla drinking and tells him she’s going for custody of Simon.

“Then Peter goes on a massive bender and doesn’t come home the night Frank is killed.

“When he does turn up he has blood on his clothes and doesn’t know where he’s been.”

Carla then tells Peter that they must both tell the police that they’ve been together the whole day, so that then of course, they both have an alibi.

And when asked if she thinks Carla’s capable of murder, Alison said, “Yes, very possibly – she has more motive and opportunity than the other suspects.

“Frank has completely destroyed her life. She’s a desperate woman who could do something desperate.”

We get to see the discovery of Frank’s body on March 5th.

Also in forthcoming episodes, though on a much lighter note, Karl Munro is going to find himself getting a harsh lesson in trying to get one over his partner, Stella Price.

It all begins when Karl buys a big screen telly and digital satellite dish for the pub, claiming that airing sports events will bring in the punters.

However, when she sees the size of the dish that’s perched on the pub roof, Stella – and the rest of the Street’s residents – immediately wants it taken down, saying it’s an eyesore.

And she’s furious with Karl for spending so much money without consulting her first, so, she sends him up to the roof to take the dish down, but by way of teaching him a lesson, once he’s up there, she takes the ladder away!

Speaking to TV Times about the plotline, John Michie, who of course plays Karl, said, “Karl is scared of heights and it terrifies him. At the same time Stella tells him she’s sold the TV.

“That annoys him as he paid a lot of money for it and he thinks she’s only got a fraction of what it’s worth.”

This latest row is just one more factor in the deterioration of Karl and Stella’s relationship, and could be one of the reasons why Karl is about to have an affair with Sunita…

Eee, there’ll be trouble at t’mill there!
