Ten million viewers needed for The Voice UK to be a success

It is understood that due to the huge cost in producing The Voice UK, the BBC need no less than ten million viewers to tune in to the debut show on Saturday night in order for it to be a success.

It has been estimated that the show costs around £11million a year to produce, making it one of the BBC’s most expensive projects to date.

The show, which features will.i.am, Tom Jones, Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue, launches just an hour before ITV premiere the new season of Britain’s Got Talent.

The two shows will overlap by 20 minutes, with The Voice UK beginning at 7pm on BBC One while BGT airs on ITV1 at 8pm.
