EastEnders: Cliff Parisi lands a Hollyoaks role, and Jessie Wallace in coming back, yay!

Plus, Rita Simons says Roxy’s affair with Alfie could be “The last notch on the bedpost”

We’ll start today’s EastEnders news round up with the revelation that former Walford star Cliff Parisi – who played lovable mechanic Minty Peterson – is to join the cast of Hollyoaks.

It seems that Cliff has already begun filming at the show’s Liverpool base, and Digital Spy report that his character will be called Walt, but not a great deal is known about him other than that.

Cliff took to his Twitter account recently to announce his new role, saying, “Just on my way back to London after my first day on another soap!

“Overalls are a possibility, ho hum! Don’t panic it’s just a few eps, blink and I’m gone, but it’s fun and they are a really lovely bunch.”

Since he left EastEnders in 2010, Cliff has starred as Fred on BBC One’s Call the Midwife. He’s also set up his own limousine hire company along with his former co-star Ricky Groves, who played unlucky in love Gary Hobbs.

In other news, Jessie Wallace is coming back to work on the show having taken a break for three months.

Jessie, who plays Kat Moon, was reportedly “exhausted” in the wake of her very public split with former fiancé Vince Morse, who she ditched on their wedding day.

After the split, Jessie returned to work almost immediately, and friends of her worried that she was pushing herself too hard. And it seems she was, but is now fully rested and raring to go.

A source close to Jessie told the Daily Mail, “Jessie has had an incredibly tough time but the break has done her the world of good.”

And of course, Kat’s absence has been explained in having her go to look after her dad Charlie Slater who had a stroke…

But while she’s been away, Alfie has been through all manner of traumas, including the new plotline that will see him having an affair with Roxy Mitchell.

And apropos of that, Rita Simons, who of course plays Roxy, reckons that Alfie (Shane Richie) will be “the last notch on the bed post” for her bed hopping character.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Rita said, “She’s in love with Alfie and it’s sad – she’s obviously had a personality transplant and developed a conscience because she knows it’s wrong and he’s married.

“With Max, she just went for it, it was a game, an ego thing. But she cares for Alfie and she can’t help but be in love with him.

“She’ll fish for compliments and he’ll dish them out because he’s Alfie – and she’ll take that as, ‘Oh he loves me’.

“I think it would be nice for her to find true love but if she does she might have to leave because Roxy has always been about finding the man of her dreams.

“Everything she has ever done revolves around, ‘I just want to be loved’. So if she got with Alfie and they were happy then what would be left for her?

“Alfie would be the last notch on the bedpost. I’ve snogged nearly all the men in the square.

“I even snogged Ian Beale once.”

Yikes.
