Plus Tony Hirst hopes there’s a future for Paul and Eileen
As fans of Corrie will know, Sunita Alahan and Karl Munro are having an affair, and it moved into the realms of super awkward when Sunita’s husband Dev insisted on inviting Karl and Stella over for dinner…
But of course what neither Stella nor Dev knew is that just hours before the dinner party, Sunita and Karl did the do in a hotel just outside Manchester, prompting some über awkward moments during the meal.
However, things are set to take a dramatic turn when Sophie Webster nearly catches Sunita and Karl together.
Shobna Gulati, who of course plays Sunita, has been telling Soaplife what happens.
She said, “Sophie [gets] suspicious when she finds Karl’s wallet on the sofa at the flat where Sunita and Karl had been together.
“Sunita is concerned. She knows Sophie isn’t daft and is quite moralistic. Sophie sees the sexual tension between Sunita and Karl and suggests to Dev that she can babysit while he takes Sunita out…”
Sunita then tells Karl that she thinks Sophie knows about them, and of his reaction, Shobna said, “He goes ballistic and tries to sort it out with Sophie.
“He spins her a whole heap of lies and tells Sophie that Sunita’s helping him with his gambling addiction and that’s all there is to it.
“And Sophie buys that, so the crisis is averted.”

In other Corrie news, Michelle Keegan has been telling All About Soap magazine that when loan shark Rick Whelan kidnaps Rita Sullivan and threatens to drive the car she’s locked up in into the canal, her character Tina McIntyre is terrified that he’ll carry out his threat.
The drama occurs after Tina realizes what Rick’s been making Tommy do – smuggle drugs into cars – and threatens to go to the police about it.
However, she hadn’t bargained on just how evil Rick is…
Michelle said, “She’s going to meet Rick, threaten him and tell him to stay out of their lives, but she hasn’t thought it through, really.
“She’s just acting on her instincts and trying to form a plan as she goes along.
“Tina’s in control until she sees he’s got Rita, then suddenly she feels helpless. She didn’t think her plan was going to backfire like this.
“She doesn’t know what to do next.”
And of Rick’s threat to drown Rita, Michelle said, “She realises he’s deadly serious and Tina’s terrified.
“She tries to act like she isn’t scared, but she knows what Rick’s like. He won’t stop until he gets his own way.
“And if that means Rita getting pushed into the canal, then he’ll do it.”
We’ll see all that drama on Monday, June 4 on ITV1.
Finally today, Tony Hirst has revealed that he hopes his character Paul Kershaw and his girlfriend Eileen Grimshaw can manage to save their relationship in the wake of his wife Lesley’s death.
But of course, it’s not looking very promising right now, given that Eileen made Paul move out when he accused her of being responsible for Lesley dying.
Nonetheless, Tony reckons there’s hope for the couple yet. He told Inside Soap, “He’s more than aware that he’s put [Eileen] through the mill over and over again, and he doesn’t want to do that any more.
“He’s uncomfortable asking anything of her, but he knows he has to try. One of the things Paul loves about Eileen, that she’s direct and won’t take any nonsense from anyone.
“She’s helped him to stop pussy-footing around, and he has a real sense of clarity about the situation now.”
However, there’s the nightmare of Lesley’s funeral to get past yet, and when Eileen turns up, there are a few mourners who are really not happy she’s there…
