Plus Rita Simons dreads kissing scenes, but Roxy may be kissing Alfie soon!

Pan St Clement, who of course played the role of Walford icon Pat Evans, has revealed that she never wanted her character to be killed off.
As fans of the show will know, Pat died last Christmas after being diagnosed with cancer, but while attending the British Soap Awards last weekend – where Pam picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award – Pam told TV host and former co-star Joe Swash, “To be honest with you I didn’t particularly want to be killed off…
“I thought it was an easy way out, and we had 14 months to prepare. But in the final event, I thought it was a fantastic way to go.”
And when asked if she misses being on the show, Pam said, “I miss the people, obviously.”
Two of the people Pam misses may well be Rita Simons and Shane Richie, who of course play the roles of Roxy Mitchell and Alfie Moon…

However, because Rita is such great friends with Shane, she’s revealed that she’s going to find it difficult to snog him if Roxy’s affair with Alfie gets to that point.
Speaking to the PA, Rita said, “It’s been lovely to work with Shane, he’s a great actor. We haven’t had a kissing scene yet, I don’t know if we will.”
She added, “He’s a very generous actor.”
Rita has of course previously had to share kissing scenes with Scott Maslen, who plays Jack Branning, and of that, Rita reiterated how awkward it can be kissing a good friend.
She said, “We get these scripts out of nowhere sometimes, we’ve been pals for so long now and we get these scripts and we’re like, ‘Oh my God, we’ve got to kiss’ but actually we do it and it’s fine.”
Yeah I can imagine your horror at having to kiss Scott, what with him looking like something you’d find over a church door… it’s a terrible job, but somebody’s got to do it.
Finally today, Jo Joyner has taken to Twitter to reassure fans that she’s not leaving her role as Tanya Branning permanently, and is only having a break of a couple of months.

She tweeted, “I’m not leaving! Just a little break, some time to be a better mum. It’s all about finding a balance.”
And later, she added, “It will only be a short break to spend time with family, and it’s ages off.
“It’s going to be a busy year for the Brannings.”
