Major international TV award for Top Gear

Top Gear has claimed a major international award at the Rose D’Or Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland.

The BBC Two series was awarded the Honorary Rose Award for its success around the world.

Host Jeremy Clarkson was present to collect the award, joking: “Approximately seven million cars had to be destroyed to win this award.”

The show is screened in 198 territories around the world and has been an inspiration to creators of TV formats all over the globe.
