Plus, X Factor judges want Sharon Osbourne back, and Robbie Williams says he WON’T be a guest judge
Yesterday, Cheryl Cole sang her new single Call My Name ‘live’ on The Voice, and I use quotation marks there because it was clearly very much not live…
The whole shebang began well when Cheryl – who, like Prince, now just wants to be known as Cheryl, sans Cole – stagedived into the waiting arms of her rather lovely male dancers, but thereafter, it went rapidly down hill, in terms of her promise to sing live and unaided by auto-tuning.
Her dancing was great, I’ll give her that, but it was blatantly obvious she was NOT singing live, however, her representative says she was.
Speaking to The Sun, her publicist said, “She sang live with a backing track.”
A show insider added, “It would have been hard for Cheryl to have sung through the whole performance — it was such an energetic dance routine.
“But I’m sure people will be disappointed if they expected her to sing throughout.”
The thing is, if she hadn’t promised a live performance, nobody would have given a flying f**k at a rolling doughnut, but she did, and therefore, peeps were irritated.
One Twitter user wrote, “Cheryl Cole is definitely miming! Badly!”
Another tweeted, “A bit embarrassing that she’s gone on a singing show and mimed”.
And yet another said, “Blatantly lip synching… Such an irony that she’s performing on a show that promotes real talent.”
Here’s a reminder of her performance…
What do you think? Live or mimed? And did you care either way?
Over to X Factor news now, and it seems that judges Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos have all revealed that they’d love to see former judge Sharon Osbourne returning to the show.
Sharon was of course one of the original judges on the show, but she left amid reports that she and Dannii Minogue
absolutely hated each other, and Sharon allegedly told Simon Cowell, “It’s her or me” and he chose to keep Dannii.
But of course, in the wake of Tom Bower’s revelation that Simon and Dannii were having an affair, I guess it’s no longer a mystery why he chose her over Sharon.
However, speaking to the Daily Star, Tulisa said, “I’d love Sharon Osbourne to come back. She’s the female boss.”
Louis added, “I’d love Sharon to come back too. I always had so much fun with her.”
And Gary said of Sharon, “She’d be amazing. Like Tulisa said, she’s the ultimate female boss.”
But he added, “I don’t know if she would come back. I don’t really know anything about the politics.
“I personally thought Dannii would be great too. The only thing is the show likes to move forward so that might be a problem.”
Would you like to see Sharon return to the show?
Finally today, while it’s been confirmed that Mel B will guest judge at auditions in Manchester next week, Robbie Williams has ended speculation that he’ll be a guest judge, and he did so quite emphatically.
He told the Sun, “I’m not guest judging. I’m not doing it. I’m not bothered who they get.
“I don’t know who Gary would want, you will have to ask him.”
And when asked if he’d help his Take That band mate out at Judges’ Houses again, Robbie said, “[No] I’m not helping him at Judges’ Houses this time.”
Of what Robbie had to say, Gary remarked, “There was talk of Robbie being a guest judge but I’m not sure now.
“He’s the biggest fan of this show, so I could definitely see him turning up for an hour maybe.
“He’s only flown in for Soccer Aid so I’m not sure if he’ll have time. It’s so last minute all this, that’s the problem.”
Aww, gutted. As with Sharon, I love Robbie and really enjoyed seeing him at Judges’ Houses with Gary last year, and I reckon he’d have been a great judge too.
But to be honest, as long as Geri Halliwell doesn’t get the job of fourth judge, I can probably live with just about anybody else in the role! What say you?
