And Lydia acts like a spoilt brat over her birthday

Day 16 in the BB house was of course dominated by the Lab Rats task, a new nominations rule – which is actually an old one rehashed – and the fact that it was Lydia’s birthday…

More on the task – which they passed! – and the noms news in a moment, but first, with regard to it being Lydia’s birthday, she proved once again that everything really is all about her with a fit of spoilt brat tears when she thought Big Brother wasn’t going to do anything to celebrate her big day.

And indeed, as day wore into evening with not even a happy birthday message to Lydia from BB, she got more and more tense and sulky.

Then, when Big Brother called everyone to the sofas, she thought her moment was finally arriving and that the big guy was going to announce a party for her…

However, he instead announced that as of right that moment, all talking about nominations was banned. They have of course, right up to that point, been permitted to discuss nominations freely, so not being able to seemed something of a blow to a lot of them, Lydia included. Ha! Maybe now she’ll stop leading Deana around by the nose and telling her who to nominate…

Just by the by, the old rule being reinstated was as a result of a poll conducted of BB fans, 88% of whom wanted the rule back so that the HMs can be punished if they discuss nominations. Click here to see a clip of them hearing that bit of news.

Anyway, once the announcement was made, Lydia burst into tears and said, “The whole day has gone and they haven’t even said ‘happy birthday’.

“Time is fading away. This is the s**test birthday in the whole of the land.”

Oh my god. Seriously, is she in fact 6 rather than 26?!

Anywho, soon after, BB decided they’d tortured Lydia for long enough – error, it can never be long enough – and they called her into the Diary Room to have a phone chat with fiancé Andy Scott-Lee. Click here to see that special moment.

She then returned to the house to find a party ready and waiting, and once again, her happiness was restored as it really was all about her for the rest of the night, despite Becky stealing a bit of thunder. Click here to see how she did that.

As to the Lab Rats task, by mid-afternoon yesterday, the HMs had just one more experiment to endure, and it was the Cruelty Experiment.

In a nutshell, Adam, Lauren and Arron were told that they must pretend that the electrodes that were attached to their temples were in fact active, and when the scientists – Benedict, Lydia and Luke A – gave them a blast of leccy, in response to getting a general knowledge question wrong, they had to pretend it was really painful.

The point of the exercise was to see if the scientists, who did believe they were genuinely administering shocks, would continue doing so or stop when it all got too painful for the lab rats. Click here to see a clip of some pretty convincing acting!

As they did indeed stop doing it, the task was passed when it was proven that scientists are capable of compassion. So, the overall task was also passed giving the HMs a shopping budget of £840 this week.

Also last night, and somewhat bizarrely, Adam proposed to Shievonne, and what’s more, she hasn’t said ‘no’! Click here to see a clip of that weirdness.

So finally today, news is that the BB live feed on 5* is back as of this Friday’s eviction. As with Celeb BB earlier this year, for an hour after every live show, we can go directly to the house to see the aftermath of whatever’s just happened. But – sigh – only for an hour, but I guess it’s better than nothing right?

Call back later today for an update on what the HMs have been up to today, Day 17, but in the meantime, let us know if you’re happy that the no discussing noms rule has come back or if you preferred it when they could openly conspire!
