BBC's Director General says they must learn from Jubilee mistakes

BBC’s outgoing Director General has said that the broadcaster must learn lessons from its much-criticised Diamond Jubilee coverage.

Mark Thompson told MPs that while for the most part he felt the coverage was “a really good piece of broadcasting”, he feels the beeb will need to eliminate the flaws.

Thompson admitted that there were “one or two – not many but one or two – inaccuracies in the commentary which we shouldn’t have had”.

He refused to talk about specific moments of the coverage, in particular the segment where Fearne Cotton and Paloma Faith discussed a Jubilee-themed sick bag.
