Yesterday was of course Day 20 in the Big Brother house, and it wasn’t a good day for any of them given that they had hangovers and dodgy stomachs following the excesses of the night before at Ashleigh’s double party…
And things were made infinitely worse when Big Brother announced the Confusing Cuisine task, which frankly, I think was a stroke of genius because, as witnessed in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, we viewers love nothing more than to see people forced to eat something truly grim.
However, the twist was that the dishes that on the face of it looked hideous – such as a pig’s head – were in fact made of something quite nice, while the meals that looked great, such as chocolate truffles, contained hidden horrendousness such as fermented tofu.
And let’s face it, no bugger likes normal tofu, much less tofu that’s been fermented.
But after the task was over, Big Brother declared that everyone except Deana had eaten their meal to BB’s satisfaction…
However, because Deana gagged and ralphed and generally made a huge fuss, it came down to the housemates to decide who had endured the worst suffering in the task while making the biggest effort, and they all voted Conor to win.
He’d eaten a 100 year old duck egg that was dipped in chocolate, and fair dos, he actually had to eat the gross thing like five times because he kept throwing up into his mouth. Ew.
Here’s a run down from BB’s website of what everyone ate…
Ashleigh chose dog biscuits, but thankfully they turned out to be some lovely homemade cookies. Yum!
Deana spat and spluttered her way through Big Brother’s sweaty cake, made with two layers of a popular processed tinned ham product filled with a layer of hot sauce.
Lucky Sara’s the bottle of white wine vinegar turned out to be a bottle of appetising grape juice.
Arron chomped through the classic English snack, scotch egg. But instead of an egg yolk centre, it was stuffed with gentleman’s relish, a kind of fishy paste.
Scott went for what appeared to be a regular cheesecake. Nestling inside the stinky cheese was a delicious layer of beef mince, fermented beans and squid.
Lauren happily guzzled the vials of blood that were actually filled with a tasty sugar syrup.
Lydia painfully moaned, groaned, choked, spluttered and gagged her way through the jar of mustard, that was actually just a small amount of delicious custard.
Adam selected the bottle of apple juice, unfortunately for him, the apple juice turned out to be cow urine.
Luke S chose Big Brother’s special meat pie, stuffed with the finest dog food. Woof, woof!
Conor gallantly chomped his way through the 100 year-old fermented duck egg dipped in chocolate.
Shievonne opted for the jar of mayonnaise that turned out to be a jar of delicious melted marshmallows.
Becky tackled the tasty truffles, made from stinky fermented tofu, dipped in chocolate.
Luke A was left with the pig’s head. Inside the farmyard critter’s skull he found a fruity jelly.
Exempt from eating any nasty surprises was waitress, Caroline. You can click here to see the task part 1, and here to see part 2.
Ok, so the next phase of the drama was the announcement that Conor had won sole control of the shopping list this week, which went down like a pork chop in a synagogue with everyone complaining that it was a s**t prize given what they’d all gone through to win it. Click here to see a clip of the angry response to Conor’s prize.
However, Detective Becky reckoned she’d spotted the reason why the prize was so crap, which was that it was a group task, but because Deana failed, the original prize they would have won if they’d all eaten their given dishes would have been something “great.”
But as Deana didn’t eat her ham and hot sauce combo, the group failed and Conor’s prize was in effect a booby prize.
Click here to see a clip of Becky coming to that conclusion.
Now, whether Becky’s right or wrong in her theory remains to be seen, because I’m sure BB will fill us in as to what was
really the point of the task in the next highlights show…
But I reckon it’s all the ammunition the housemates need to nominate Deana today, because it is of course Monday, which is when they all nominate.
However, Deana did of course break the rules surrounding nominations yesterday by asking Lydia and Lauren to nominate her because she really wants to leave…
So I’m wondering if Deana’s punishment will in fact be to be immune from nominations this week? Because of course, that would seriously anger the rest of the housemates, and disappoint Deana, who may then possibly consider walking.
But assuming she’s not immune, then I think Deana will definitely face eviction this week, and as to who she’ll be up against, I suspect it will either be Lauren, Lydia, or Luke A.
So there are my predictions but what are yours? Let us know!
We will of course bring you the news of who’s up as soon as we get it which is usually around 5-6pm.
Before that though, we’ll have a round up of today’s events – Day 21 – this afternoon.
