Having depended on letters to keep their romance alive, their relationship falters when John decides to re-enlist in the army. Then it arrives – the Dear John letter informing him that Savannah is engaged to someone else. But months later, John receives another letter from Savannah with their sign-off of old, ‘I’ll see you soon, then’. Could there be hope for the couple yet?
