And Rik Makarem says Gennie and Nikhil “will have a happy ending”
We’ll start today’s Emmerdale news round up with a spoiler clip of Friday night’s episode – that’s June 22nd – in which Eric Pollard infuriates his son David and his fiancé Alicia by disapproving of their sham marriage plans…
As fans will know, David’s going to propose to Alicia, but only so that he can legitimately have custody of her son Jacob while she’s in prison. However, when David doesn’t know is that Justin – Jacob’s dad – was going to allow David to keep Jacob in the village anyway.
And that’s a fact that a smitten Alicia accidentally on purpose forgets to tell the groom to be!

On now to the news that Gaynor Faye reckons there’s a real future for her character Megan Macey and her boyfriend Carl King.
As viewers will know, Megan and Carl have been dating on and off since she first arrived in the village, but it seems their feelings for each are growing stronger by the day.
Speaking to Inside Soap about the relationship, Gaynor said, “They’re a bit commitment-phobic, but they fancy each other and they’re sexually compatible.
”Each of them is trying hard not to let the other one know that they care.
“I think they’ve genuinely fallen for one another, but won’t let on.”
However, for another Emmerdale couple, though things have been somewhat rocky, they’re about to get a much firmer footing…
I refer of course to Nikhil Sharma and Gennie Walker’s relationship, which is about to become a marriage as Nikhil will propose to his pregnant girlfriend this week.
However, Rik Makarem, who of course plays Nikhil, revealed it won’t all be easy going for his character!
He explained, “I think there will definitely be a happy ending to this story – but it won’t be an easy road there!”
And of Nikhil’s proposal to Gennie, Rik said, “Nikhil is very methodical and believes that babies and marriage go hand in hand.
”He’s finally got the chance to have everything perfect.
“But when Gennie discovers he knows, she thinks he only wants to marry her because she’s pregnant, and refuses! He’s shot himself in the foot.”
But worry not because things do work out in the end!
Rik said, “When Gennie finally says yes to him, the floodgates open. It’s a truly beautiful moment.”
Let’s hope that they’ll be one of the very few soapy partnerships that last!
