BBC Radio 1 DJ’s Fearne Cotton, Greg James and Gemma Cairney present BBC Three’s exclusive television coverage of Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend – the station’s biggest ever free ticketed live music event, featuring more than 100 UK and international artists, bands and DJs.
Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a dazzling line-up of international and UK artists and live music from six BBC stages: the Main Stage, Dance Stage, In New Music We Trust Stage, the BBC Introducing Stage and for the first time ever, a 1Xtra Stage.
Coverage of Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend 2012 starts at 7pm and will feature many of the artists performing over the weekend, including live and in full Main Stage headline performances from Jay-Z on Saturday and Rihanna on Sunday.
BBC Three will also broadcast performances from talent set to perform on the Saturday, including Jay-Z, Kasabian, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, Leona Lewis, Rita Ora. Performances from Rihanna, Florence And The Machine, Tinie Tempah, Jessie J, Plan B, Professor Green, Lana Del Rey, Ben Howard, Maverick Sabre, Labrinth and many others will be broadcast on the Sunday.
There will also be exciting performances from some special guests across the weekend.
Fearne and Greg will be based in the heart of East London’s Hackney Marshes in the BBC Three Tree House studio, bringing viewers the best possible view from the festival as well as interviews and special acoustic performances from some of the artists set to perform over the weekend.
Gemma will be out and about on the Hackney marshes, getting to know the festival-goers, mingling backstage with the acts, bringing viewers all of the news and behind-the-scenes fun from around the site.
BBC Three online will be in Hackney and people will be able to get involved with the show and keep up to date with what’s happening across the weekend via the BBC Three Facebook and Twitter pages.
The event will also have a major presence online at the Radio 1 website, with full performances from the Main Stage, In New Music We Trust Stage, 1Xtra Stage, Dance Stage and BBC Introducing Stage being streamed live at bbc.co.uk/radio1 and for the first time ever they can also be viewed on a mobile. Event highlights will also be available on the BBC Red Button.
