Sherlock actor Andrew Scott has bagged the lead role in a new ITV1 drama series entitled The Town.
The actor, who played super-villain Moriarty in the BBC’s Sherlock series, will be joined by the likes of Martin Clunes, Julia McKenzie, Gerard Kearns, Charlotte Riley, and Kelly Adams in the three-part series.
Scott will play 30-year-old Mark Nicholas who returns to his hometown of Renton after ten years away and is drawn back into his old life.
“At the heart of The Town will be a family struggling to come to terms with change. It’s also our hope to paint a picture of contemporary Britain through the magnifying glass of an ordinary market town,” says co-executive producer Kenton Allen.
“The story takes place in a landscape familiar to most of the UK. Most of the population live their lives in a place like Renton.”
