Plus Sue Johnston returns to Corrie set after mystery illness
There’s a good deal of death related soapy news today, beginning with the revelation that in tonight’s visit to Hollyoaks, bad lad Brendan Brady is set to discover that nurse Lynsey Nolan has been murdered!
The shocking twist was discovered when Hollyoaks First Look aired on E4 last night, but of course, who murdered Lynsey is now set to the focus of the upcoming episodes’ storylines.
In the frame is of course Brendan, who’s got murderous form, and ditto for serial killer Silas Blissett who’s about to pop up in the village yet again. And of course, Lynsey always knew Silas was a killer, so had he killed her by way of revenge?
Also a possible suspect is Mercedes who has of course gone right off the edge of late.
Of the gripping plot twist, a show insider told the Sun, “This has got to be soap’s best kept secret. No one even knew Karen [Hassan who plays Lynsey] was leaving.
“It will lead to a big whodunit plot.”
Who do you think killed her?!
Staying with murderers, it’s been reported today that in EastEnders, Shirley Carter will finally find out that Ben Mitchell murdered her bezzie mate Heather Trott, when one clue after another leads to her making the shock discovery.
The first of those discoveries comes next month, when she finds the photo frame that Ben hit Heather with, which of course caused her to fall and strike her head on a kitchen countertop.
However, the Daily Star reveals that when Shirley finally realizes that Ben killed Hev, rather than reject the Mitchell family – because by then she’ll know too that Phil and Jay have been covering for Ben – she’ll ask Phil to marry her! I know!
An insider said, “Maybe she thinks keeping him close will put her in the perfect position to spy on him and Ben.
“She’s not going to give up until she’s brought Heather’s killer to justice.”
But, unsurprisingly, an EastEnders spokesman said, “We never comment on future storylines as we don’t want to spoil the surprise for viewers.”
Ooo I can’t wait to see how that pans out!
Finally, it’s been revealed today that Corrie newbie Sue Johnston should have already been on our screens as Stella’s mum Gloria, however, a mystery illness meant she had to take sick leave from the show back in April.
Fortunately, Sue is now completely recovered, but has only just returned to the set of the show to continue filming, which has caused the show’s bosses to order a re-write of how Gloria is introduced to the Street.
A show source said, “It’s taken a bit of time to write Sue back in because the writers needed to find the perfect scenario to introduce her character.
“The new scenario is even better than the first one.”
The insider added, “From the few days Sue was in before she fell ill, everyone was impressed at how wonderfully she fitted in.”
We can expect to see Sue as Gloria in September.
