The first season hasn’t long finished over here in the UK but the teaser for Homeland season 2 has already got us all excited.
And it’s only a meagre 11 seconds long.
Homeland season one centred around US marine Nicholas Brody who returned from being captured in Iraq but was suspected of being in al-Qaeda. The finale of the first season left us with a lot of questions but Channel 4 have secured the rights to the second season here in the UK.
Homeland creator, Howard Gordon recently revealed that in the second season, “Carrie will not be in the intelligence service and the world will be at a boiling point,” so here’s what we’re hoping to find out from watching the teaser in the second season. If you haven’t seen season one, stop reading!
Carrie’s line, “You wait, you lay low, then you come to life,” seems to be referring to the nature of the sleeper agent. With Brody seeming to be in the clear and with his possible entry into politics, he’s even more invisible as a sleeper agent than ever before. The question is, we saw his efforts with his suicide bomb mission fail last season, so how long will he wait now and what exactly is going to happen next?
The even bigger question it would seem, it what is happening to Carrie. Last seen undergoing shock therapy, her memories are likely to be more dormant than ever. Yes, those all important memories that could uncover the truth about Brody’s true involvement with Abu Nazir and his dead son, are likely to be locked away for now but how much exactly will she remember this season and when will all those memories come flooding back?
Remember though, that Carrie is no longer with the CIA and with Brody immersing himself in politics, it looks likely that he is keen to keep her quiet especially if she keeps digging, which, to be fair, we know she will.
We’d like to see exactly what Dana Brody thinks next season too. We already know that she suspects her dad of something weird, and what with Carrie spilling what she knew to her, we hope it’s only a matter of time before things click into place. And we would like to think that his wife Jessica will be more clued up in season two after all how long can she ignore Brody’s strange behaviour and stop blaming it on his years in capture.
What about Saul? How much will he be able to do without Carrie? Remember he now knows about the drone attack that killed all those children and after the suicide bomb attack and the sniper shooting, and it looks like he’s getting close to crack the case that Carrie was so close to.
What are your thoughts on the teaser and what are you hoping will be resolved next season?
Homeland returns to US screens at the end of September.
