X Factor 2012: One Direction to release a new album at Christmas & Anastacia is “excited” about auditions in Glasgow!

Plus, Misha B says she’s “cool” with Tulisa now, but who cares? And Rita Ora favourite for fourth judge role

We’ll kick off today’s look at X Factor news with the report that global superstar band One Direction are set to release a new album at Christmas.

The 1D boys, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik, are currently on tour in the Stated with fellow X Factor success story Olly Murs, and in addition to their relentless live performance schedule, they’re also set to star in a movie.

So with the news that there’s to be a new album – which is pretty much a cert to go to No1 in the yuletide charts – I can’t help wondering if the lads are an unstoppable force of nature or candidates for a spectacular celebrity burn out.

The editor of Rolling Stone magazine recently claimed that 1D were “being worked like dogs,” and I have to say, I agree with him.

Let’s hope the meltdown, when – and I suspect it’s not even an if – it happens doesn’t ruin anyone’s life.

However, in happier news, cancer survivor and pop star Anastacia has revealed that she’s “so excited” at the prospect of being a guest judge at the X Factor auditions in Glasgow tomorrow…

She said, “I’m so excited to be back in the UK and be part of this fantastic show.

“I can’t wait to see what talent Glasgow has to offer. Watch out for a lot of laughter!”

The guest judges have of course been filling the judging seat that was vacated by Kelly Rowland, and rumour has it that Rita Ora in top favourite to land the role full time when the live rounds begin.

A show insider told Star magazine, “Rita surprised producers with her professional attitude.

“Her answers were thought out and the contestants were really keen to get her opinion.”

And another source told heat magazine, “The feeling behind the scenes is that Rita has been the breakout star judge.”

However, it’s also been reported that the show’s bosses are in talks with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who of course was a judge and mentor on the first series of X Factor USA last year. She has reportedly been offered a deal that’s worth £500,000.

The insider said, “We are talking to Nicole abut taking on the job full time.

“It’s now down to money and whether she can commit to the show, which takes up most of the rest to the year.”

Finally today, former X Factor finalist Misha B has said she’s “grateful” to the show for helping her career, and has insisted she’s now “cool” with Tulisa.

Misha and Tulisa had some words when the latter accused Misha of being “a bully” to the other acts.

Saying that was now all “water under the bridge,” Misha told Metro, “Looking back, I understand it’s an entertainment show.

“I’ve experienced bullying myself so to be accused of it was upsetting.

“Me and Tulisa are cool now. It was last year and it’s water under the bridge.

“Without X Factor, I wouldn’t be signed now and I’m very grateful for the platform it’s given me.

“It’s a reality TV show, at the end of the day. I went into it with the attitude of expecting the unexpected, so I just tried to deal with everything that came my way.

“You sometimes find yourself in situations where you think: ‘Why is this happening?’ but that’s what happens in life.

“You’re given these situations to learn from and grow.”

I’m afraid I never did take to Misha. What did you think of her?
