Comedy legend Eric Sykes passes away

British comedy legend Eric Sykes has passed away at the age of 89.

Sykes, who has worked with the likes of Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Tony Hancock, had a short battle with illness before his death.

His manager, Norma Farnes, confirmed this morning: “Eric Sykes, star of TV, stage and films, died peacefully this morning after a short illness. His family were with him.”

Sykes is best known for his TV work in the 1960s and ’70s including his work with Hattie Jacques in Sykes and a Big Big Show and Sykes.

He also provided voiceovers for children’s series Teletubbies.
